Discourse-Driven Arabic Syntax
2013 - 2020
During this period, Arabic syntactic research coalesced around cross-dialect variation and discourse-driven analysis, with emphasis on how information structure and predication shape syntax across varieties. Methodologies integrated prosody, diachronic perspectives, and morphosyntactic modeling to tie grammaticalization processes to contemporary structures. This unifying orientation across Gulf, Emirati, Juba Arabic, and other dialects highlighted both shared mechanisms and dialect-specific realizations of predication, copular constructions, and object marking.
